BUCHAREST, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Romania's presidential election campaign officially begins Friday, with 11 candidates competing for the country's top office, the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announced Thursday.
The campaign will run through May 3, ahead of the first round of voting scheduled for May 4.
This year's election follows a controversial annulment of the 2024 presidential vote by the Constitutional Court on Dec. 6, which came just as the second round of overseas voting had begun.
If no candidate wins an outright majority in the first round, a runoff will take place on May 18. The second-round campaign will resume once results are validated and continue until May 17. Enditem
