RIO DE JANEIRO, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A second-half goal from substitute Juninho gave Brazil's Flamengo a 1-0 away victory over Venezuelan side Deportivo Tachira in its opening Copa Libertadores group stage match on Thursday.
Juninho, who replaced Michael in the 56th minute, put his side ahead just after the hour when he used his chest to bundle the ball into the net after Everton Cebolinha's cross was flicked on by Bruno Henrique.
The visitor controlled almost two thirds of possession and had twice as many shots on goal as Tachira, but struggled to break down the host's defense.
Meanwhile, Colombian midfielder Richard Rios scored in the 92nd minute as Brazilian club Palmeiras registered a 3-2 away win over Peru's Sporting Cristal.
Estevao and Joaquin Piquerez were also on target for Palmeiras, while Jesus Pretell and Martin Tavara scored for Sporting.
Sao Paulo completed a successful night for Brazilian clubs as Alisson's 76th-minute strike earned his team a 1-0 victory at Talleres Cordoba.
In other fixtures on Thursday, Atletico Nacional won 3-0 at home to Nacional de Montevideo, and Central Cordoba was held to a goalless home draw by LDU Quito. Enditem
