KABUL, April 4 (Xinhua) -- More than 300,000 domestic tourists have visited eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province since the start of Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Friday.

Kunar, known for its stunning landscapes, boasting pleasant weather continues to attract both domestic and international travelers. The mountainous province has yet to accommodate tourists and guests, as there are few hotels and rest houses for the visitors, the report added.

Domestic tourists praised the natural beauty of Kunar and expressed happiness over the overall security in the country.

Meanwhile, about 70,000 domestic tourists visited various natural beauties and historical monuments in the western Badghis and the eastern Panjshir province during the Eid al-Fitr festival to mark the end of Muslims fasting month Ramadan.

The Afghan Interim government announced the implementation of security measures and ensured that citizens could celebrate the holiday in a safe environment across the country during the Eid al-Fitr festival. Enditem
