CAIRO, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Friday said both Israel's war in the Gaza Strip and its raids in Syria and Lebanon entered a new phase of "complete recklessness."

In a statement, Aboul-Gheit warned that the "Israeli war machine" seems not to stop, adding that the daily killing and displacement of civilians in Gaza are aimed at forcing its residents out of the strip by making the land uninhabitable.

He urged the peace-loving countries to defend international law and act to stop such heinous killing immediately.

The pan-Arab body's chief also condemned Israel's resumption of the "assassination policy" in Lebanon, saying it is an unacceptable violation of the ceasefire agreement reached in November last year and will fuel the situation towards more escalation.

Israel aims to destabilize situations in Syria and Lebanon via irresponsible military escalation to serve internal agendas at the expense of innocent lives and regional stability, the AL chief added. Enditem
