KATHMANDU, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Nepal has issued permits for 77 climbers to scale the world's tallest Mount Qomolangma during the spring climbing season, an official said on Sunday.
Sixty men and 17 women from seven different groups have received permits to climb the 8,848.86-meter peak, which straddles Nepal and China, said Liladhar Awasthi, director at the Department of Tourism.
Some more applications will be decided on Monday, he told Xinhua.
A total of 273 climbers have been allowed to climb 29 mountains in Nepal during the spring climbing season, which begins in April and extends through May, Awasthi noted. Enditem
