SEOUL, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Almost eight out of 10 South Koreans accepted the constitutional court's ouster of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, a poll showed Monday.

According to local pollster Realmeter, 76.9 percent of respondents said they accepted the court's verdict while 17.4 percent said they will not accept it.

More than 80 percent of those in their 40s and 50s agreed to Yoon's removal from office, while over 70 percent of those in other age groups accept the ruling.

Yoon was removed from office with the constitutional court's unanimous ruling on Friday to uphold his impeachment motion by the National Assembly over his short-lived martial law imposition.

The result was based on a survey of 1,516 voters conducted from Wednesday to Friday. It had plus and minus 2.5 percentage points in margin of error with a 95-percent confidence level.

The poll showed that 56.9 percent were in favor of the change of the ruling party, while 37.0 percent were against it. Enditem
