ISLAMABAD, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Three high-profile terrorists were arrested during an operation in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers said in a statement on Monday.

The operation was carried out jointly by paramilitary forces and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police, resulting in the arrest of the three most-wanted terrorists identified as Naeemullah, Inamullah, and Mohammad Taib, the statement said.

A spokesperson for the paramilitary force confirmed the arrests to Xinhua, stating that the individuals were affiliated with the Gul Bahadur faction of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The suspects were involved in multiple attacks on security forces and were actively planning acts of terrorism in Karachi at the time of their arrest, he said.

"Arms, ammunition, and explosive materials were also recovered from their possession," the spokesperson said.

The arrested suspects, along with the seized weapons and explosives, have been handed over to the CTD for further legal proceedings.

Pakistan's security forces have intensified operations against terrorist groups in recent months as part of broader efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. Enditem
