MANILA -- Four people were killed after a fire engulfed a small house in a crowded residential area in the Philippine capital on early Monday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

Firefighter Josephus Franco Alburo said the victims were a couple and their two daughters, aged three and 17, who were trapped inside the house when the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. local time in Las Pinas City. (Philippines-Fire-Death)

MANILA -- The Philippines' gross international reserves (GIR) settled at 106.2 billion U.S. dollars at the end of March from 107.4 billion dollars at the end of February, the Philippine central bank said Monday.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said in a press release that the March GIR level provides a robust external liquidity buffer, equivalent to 7.3 months' worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income. (Philippines-BSP) Enditem
