DAMASCUS, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Syrian foreign affairs chief Asaad al-Shibani on Monday evening issued a decision to recall Syria's ambassadors to Russia and Saudi Arabia, according to the state-run SANA news agency.
The agency, quoting sources from the foreign ministry, said that Bashar al-Jaafari, Syria's envoy to Moscow, and Ayman Sousan, ambassador to Riyadh, have been reassigned to the ministry's central administration in Damascus.
No immediate replacements were named.
Until official appointments are made in the coming period, both embassies will be run by charges d'affaires, said SANA.
The move is part of a wider diplomatic reorganization launched by Syria's interim authorities following the recent formation of a transitional government. Enditem
