KABUL, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government's Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that entrepreneurs and the local community will bear the brunt of U.S. tariffs imposed on Afghanistan.
Such a decision by the United States will have the most detrimental impact on the Afghan people, particularly affecting start-up ventures, small enterprises, and female entrepreneurs, the ministry said in a statement late Monday.
Afghanistan is a developing country and such trade pressures may pose obstacles to its economic growth, it said.
The United States has declared a minimum tariff of 10 percent on imports from most foreign countries, which includes developing nations such as Afghanistan.
Hand-woven carpets, dried fruits, and saffron are the main products that Afghanistan exports to the United States. Enditem
