AMMAN, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has approved 1.1 billion U.S. dollars in financing to support Jordan's economy in the face of external shocks.

The funds will support four key projects focused on inclusive growth, job creation, social protection, and clean energy. These include a 400 million dollar program to improve the business climate, boost exports, and create jobs -- especially for youth and women.

A 50 million dollar fund will support startups and SMEs in sectors like information and communication technology, fintech, and greentech, aiming to mobilize 150 million dollars in private investment and create 1,500 jobs.

Another 400 million dollars will strengthen Jordan's social safety net, providing cash aid to 1.2 million people, health insurance to 150,000, and early warning services to 1 million.

A final 250 million dollars will go toward improving energy efficiency and supporting Jordan's clean energy transition.

World Bank official Jean-Christophe Carret called the support a "comprehensive approach" to sustainable growth. Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan said the financing aligns with Jordan's national development priorities. Enditem
