TALLINN, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Estonian President Alar Karis praised Poland's defense efforts and called for greater investment and political will to boost Europe's defense capabilities during a meeting with visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday.
Duda is in Estonia for a three-day state visit, highlighting strong ties between the two nations and their cooperation in defense, security, economy, transport, and education.
Both leaders stressed the urgent need to strengthen Europe's defense industry. Duda emphasized that Europe must be prepared to produce its own ammunition and, until then, be allowed to use European Union (EU) funds to purchase equipment from outside the bloc.
"Making changes to these regulations based on our needs at the first opportunity is of the utmost importance today," Duda said, as reported by Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR). Enditem
