Afghan police smash drug lab, seize over 1,100 kg illicit drugs

KABUL, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The counter-narcotic police have smashed a drug processing lab and discovered over 1,100 kg of illicit drugs in east Afghanistan's Paktia province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police have discovered and destroyed a drug processing lab and seized 1,122 kg of hashish and the objects used in manufacturing drugs in the Zargul region, Ahmadabad district of the province, the statement asserted.

According to the statement, three suspects have been arrested with regard to the case.

The Afghan interim government, which has banned poppy cultivation, drug processing and trafficking, has vowed to fight the menace until the country becomes a drug-free nation. Enditem
