RIGA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Energy ministers from Latvia, Lithuania, and Germany have reached a preliminary agreement on a high-capacity hybrid offshore electricity interconnector, potentially linking Germany to either Latvia or Lithuania, the Lithuanian Energy Ministry said Wednesday.

The proposed project envisions a 600-kilometer, 2-gigawatt subsea cable, with completion targeted between 2035 and 2037.

Transmission system operators -- AST (Latvia), Litgrid (Lithuania), and 50Hertz (Germany) -- will submit a joint application in May to include the project in the European Union's 2026 Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP). Enditem
