PHNOM PENH, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned 114.9 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first quarter of 2025, up 14.4 percent from 100.4 million dollars over the same period last year, said an official report on Thursday.
The report released by the General Directorate of Rubber showed that the kingdom exported 59,754 tons of the commodity during the January-March period this year, down 13.8 percent from 69,322 tons over the same period last year.
"A ton of rubber latex averagely cost 1,923 U.S. dollars in Q1 of 2025, about 474 dollars higher than that of Q1 in 2024," Khun Kakada, acting-director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.
The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.
Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, with the trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, old enough to be tapped, the report said. Enditem
