PHNOM PENH, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia recorded 14.44 billion U.S. dollars in its international trade during the first quarter of 2025, up 15.6 percent over the same period last year, a report said Thursday.
The kingdom's total export was valued at 6.87 billion dollars during the January-March period this year, up 9.8 percent year-on-year, and total import was registered at 7.57 billion dollars, up 21.5 percent, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise's report.
Cambodia's top five trading partners are China, the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, the report said.
Cambodian Ministry of Commerce's Secretary of State and spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Cambodia's bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are key factors in attracting foreign direct investment.
"These free trade pacts are catalysts for our long-term and sustainable trade growth and they are also magnets to attract more foreign direct investment to Cambodia," he told Xinhua.
"With preferential tariffs provided by these trade pacts, our trade growth will definitely continue to rise throughout this year and beyond," he added.
The RCEP comprises 15 Asia-Pacific countries, including 10 ASEAN member states and their five trading partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Enditem
