ANKARA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Fourteen workers were injured on Thursday due to an underground coal mine collapse in the Beypazari district of Türkiye's Ankara province, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred in the section housing production machinery, and 29 workers were present at the time of the collapse, Provincial Governor Vasip Sahin said.
The injured workers have been transported to the hospitals, and two of them were in serious condition, he added.
Fire brigades, health units, gendarmerie, and disaster and emergency management teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, local media reported.
Beypazari District Governor Vedat Yilmaz attributed the collapse to a gas explosion caused by an air pocket within the gallery, adding that necessary precautions have been implemented.
An investigation has been initiated into the incident, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said. Enditem
