KATHMANDU, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A child and four others were killed in lightning strikes in different parts of Nepal in the last 24 hours, the authorities said on Thursday.

One woman was killed and seven others injured in a strike in Doti district, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said.

In Bajhang district, a lightning strike left an elderly woman dead and two young girls injured.

A 12-year-old child in Morang district, a woman working in the field in Dhanusha district and a man in Jhapa district were killed in similar incidents.

"As the lightning incidents rise in this season, the authority urges everyone to remain alert and remain inside during thunderstorms," the authority said in a notice.
