VALLETTA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The Maltese government on Thursday launched a series of grants totalling over 2 million euros (2.24 million U.S. dollars) to help households improve energy and water efficiency.

The grants, aimed at encouraging more sustainable and energy-efficient living, were announced during a media briefing held by the energy ministry and the regulator for energy and water services.

The grants will support investments in home-based energy-efficient solutions and water-saving technologies.

Minister for the Environment and Energy Miriam Dalli noted the importance of such initiatives in achieving Malta's environmental goals while helping households reduce costs.

"We are committed to supporting families in making sustainable choices that are both environmentally and economically sound," Dalli said.

Among the most notable grants is one for photovoltaic (PV) panels directly connected to water heating systems, which covers up to 50 percent of eligible costs. Enditem
