SANAA -- The death toll from U.S. airstrikes on the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah late Tuesday night has risen to 14, with 15 others wounded, Houthi-controlled health authorities reported Thursday.

The majority of the victims were women and children, they said, adding that the death toll increased after the badly injured died in the hospital. (Yemen-US Airstrikes-Death Toll)

ISTANBUL -- The Russian consulate in Istanbul said Thursday that progress has been made on ensuring banking and financial services for Russian and U.S. diplomatic missions during the second round of bilateral talks in Istanbul.

Delegations from the two countries "exchanged diplomatic notes to formalise agreed commitments. These commitments are designed to facilitate unimpeded banking and financial services for Russian and American diplomatic missions, in addition to ensuring the fulfillment of the Russian Federation's contributions to the budgets of the UN and other international organisations," the consulate said in a press release. DAMASCUS -- Syria and South Korea signed an agreement on Thursday to establish diplomatic relations, according to a statement from Syria's foreign affairs authority.

The accord was signed in the Syrian capital by Syrian foreign affairs chief Asaad al-Shibani and visiting South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, according to the statement. (Syria-South Korea-Diplomatic Ties)

GAZA -- At least 40 Palestinians were killed and 146 others injured in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip within the last 24 hours, local health authorities reported Thursday.
