SYDNEY, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A man has died following a stabbing in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.
The police said that emergency services were called to reports of a man injured at a property in Ascot Vale, 6 km northwest of central Melbourne, at about 4 a.m. local time on Saturday.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
The man, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.
A second man was arrested at the property and will be interviewed by detectives.
"It appears at this stage, the people involved are known to each other," a police statement said. "A crime scene has been established and the investigation remains ongoing."
