KABUL, April 12 (Xinhua) -- The construction of 161 development projects has begun in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.

The projects, which will cost 295 million Afghani (over 4 million U.S. dollars), will improve the living conditions of people in Alingar district of the province.

The projects included rural roads, canals and culverts, which will create job opportunities for thousands of people in the province.

The Afghan interim government plans to launch more development projects across the war-ravaged country to address economic challenges and create jobs. Enditem
