TEHRAN/MUSCAT, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that "indirect" talks with the United States over nuclear issues and sanctions relief have concluded in the Omani capital of Muscat, describing the two-and-a-half-hour talks earlier in the day as "constructive."
The ministry said in a statement that further talks are expected "next week."
Meanwhile, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi said on social media platform X that the engagement between the Iranian and U.S. sides "took place in a friendly atmosphere conducive to bridging viewpoints and ultimately achieving regional and global peace, security and stability."
"We will continue to work together and put further efforts to assist in arriving at this goal," Albusaidi said.
Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on X that during the "indirect" Iran-U.S. talks, representatives of the two sides were positioned in separate rooms, and Albusaidi was mediating the negotiations by relaying the two sides' views and positions to each other regarding Tehran's nuclear program and the removal of Washington's sanctions.
