KABUL, April 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 120 individuals who were drug users have made a full recovery and rejoined their families after receiving treatment at a rehabilitation center in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior reported on Sunday.

The recovered addicts, after several months of medical treatment and rehabilitation, as well as receiving professional and vocational training, have reunited with their families, it said.

In addition, police have rounded up 30 drug users in the provinces of Balkh, Faryab, Ghazni, Zabul, Uruzgan, Paktia, and Wardak and shifted them to rehabilitation centers for treatment, the ministry said in another statement.

The Afghan interim government has stepped up its crackdown on illicit drugs and those involved in the business, vowing to fight the menace until the poverty-stricken country is free from poppy cultivation and substances used in the manufacturing of heroin. Enditem
