WARSAW, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Jastrzebski Wegiel beat Aluron Warta Zawiercie 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 30-28) in Krakow on Sunday to lift the trophy for the volleyball Polish Cup for the second time in team history.

Aluron Warta had a better start as the team coached by Michal Winiarski played effectively in attack to maintain a comfortable advantage. Miguel Tavares delivered two aces, while Jurij Gladyr spiked well to help the team close the opening set with a 25-18 score.

However, Jastrzebski reacted strongly. The second set was tight, but in the crucial stage, Marcelo Medez's team picked up the pace and won the set 25-22.

Then Jastrzebski continued its momentum. In the key stage of the third set, Aluron Warta made several unforced errors in attack, which allowed Jastrzebski to build an advantage before securing a 25-22 victory.

Aluron Warta fought until the end, scoring 28 points in the fourth set, but it wasn't enough to force a tie-break. Timothee Carle, who was the most prolific scorer with 22 points, took responsibility and led his team to a 30-28 win.

"We could have finished the clash earlier, but Aluron did a good job blocking. However, it was a beautiful day for us. We are very happy," Carle told Polish media Polsat Sport after the match. Enditem
