ISLAMABAD, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Remittances sent by overseas Pakistani workers crossed the 4 billion U.S. dollar mark for the first time in March this year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Monday.

The workers' remittances rose to 4.1 billion dollars in March, showing a significant year-on-year increase of 37.3 percent and a month-on-month rise of 29.8 percent, the SBP said in a statement.

In the first nine months of the 2024-25 fiscal year (July-March FY25), the cumulative inflows stood at 28.0 billion dollars, marking a 33.2 percent surge compared to 21.0 billion dollars received during the same period of the previous fiscal year, the statement added.

The inflows during March 2025 were mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia (987.3 million dollars), the United Arab Emirates (842.1 million dollars), Britain (683.9 million dollars), and the United States (419.5 million dollars), the SBP said.

Economic analysts believe the growing remittance trend is a positive sign for Pakistan's economy, helping to stabilize the current account, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and support macroeconomic recovery. Enditem
