JAKARTA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia aims to increase the shipments of fishery products to China, a main export destination, amid rising demand for the products, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said here on Tuesday.
Indonesia sets a target of 1.29 billion U.S. dollars in exports of fishery products to China this year, higher than that of 1.24 billion U.S. dollars last year, according to the data from the ministry published by Antara news on Tuesday.
"We have synergized with the relevant ministries and institutions in the country and the Indonesian embassy in Beijing to diversify export products and raise the export volume," said Ishartini, head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Supervision Agency of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The fishery products exports to China show an uptrend as the exports were recorded at 1.14 and 1.12 billion U.S. dollars in 2023 and 2022, respectively.
To achieve this year's target, the government has made efforts to enhance product quality and safety, and raised the number of firms that can export the products to the Chinese market to 544 in March. Enditem
