JAKARTA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has planned to promote its resources of green energy to penetrate the European market as an effort to mitigate impacts from U.S. tariffs, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said on Tuesday.
Indonesia has a comparative advantage in green energy, which can penetrate the market anywhere, including in Europe, and Indonesia has abundant renewable energy potentials, Lahadalia said at an event.
He said the government had assessed that there was potential for the development of hydropower of 3,600 gigawatts.
"If we are able to do this, this will be able to create jobs of approximately 300,000 and can bring in foreign exchanges of approximately 70 billion U.S. dollars," he said.
Lahadalia's remarks were in response to a 32-percent U.S. tariffs on Indonesia.
"This is just part of a trade strategy," he said, adding that the current focus is to build political and economic communication that is beneficial for each country. Enditem
