U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.58 percent to 100.215 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1273 U.S. dollars from 1.1346 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3216 U.S. dollars from 1.3189 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.16 Japanese yen, higher than 143.04 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8223 Swiss francs from 0.8144 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3968 Canadian dollars from 1.3872 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 9.8931 Swedish kronor from 9.7737 Swedish kronor. Enditem
