BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The number of visitors from Brunei to Malaysia increased by 55.2 percent in 2024, a remarkable growth from the previous year, Hazrina Azman, director of Tourism Malaysia said on Wednesday.

Bruneian visitors are a significant source of tourism for Malaysia, which made Brunei the fifth-largest contributor of tourists to Malaysia, Azman said at festive Hari Raya gathering near the capital.

Statistics from Tourism Malaysia have shown that 1,732,119 visitors from Brunei travelled to Malaysia in 2024.

Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia, which share the border with Brunei on the Borneo Island, recorded a steady increase in the number of visitors from Brunei for shopping and leisure travel, especially during long weekends and holidays. Enditem
