NEW DELHI, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-two Naxals, including nine female leaders, surrendered to government forces Friday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, state-run broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) said.
The Naxals surrendered in Sukma district, about 411 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
"These Naxals surrendered before the senior officers of the police and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force," the broadcaster said.
Reports said 12 of the 22 Naxals were carrying a cumulative bounty of over 4 million rupees.
Last month, Naxals received a major blow in the state after they lost over 45 of their cadres in gunfights with government forces.
Reports said 140 Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh since the beginning of this year. Enditem
