NEW DELHI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Six people died and two were injured when the car they were traveling in rammed into a tree at a very high speed in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh, local police confirmed on Monday.

According to the police, the accident occurred on Padrauna-Naurangia road in Kushinagar district when the victims were traveling towards a village to attend a wedding late on Sunday night.

All eight people were rushed to a local hospital, where six were declared dead and the rest two were admitted for medical treatment. The car was badly damaged, said the police. Enditem
