KABUL, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan national army has seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition during a series of operations in the eastern region of Afghanistan, said a statement of the country's National Defense Ministry on Tuesday.

The weaponry includes AK-47, M-16, M-4, machine guns, anti-tank missiles and missile launchers, hand grenades, pistols and hundreds of projectiles, the statement added.

The security officials have repeatedly urged the Afghan citizens to inform the security apparatus of suspicious activities and help the administration in collecting arms and ammunition from anyone living outside the security organs. Enditem
