U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.56 percent to 98.918 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1426 U.S. dollars from 1.1507 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3336 U.S. dollars from 1.3381 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 141.50 Japanese yen, higher than 140.83 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8189 Swiss francs from 0.8070 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3815 Canadian dollars from 1.3818 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.5556 Swedish kronor from 9.5457 Swedish kronor. Enditem
