ZAGREB, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Croatian President Zoran Milanovic on Thursday expressed skepticism regarding the future enlargement of the European Union (EU), particularly with respect to Croatia's neighboring countries and Ukraine.
"The countries of the region are in such a state that Western policies will never accept them into the EU, unfortunately. Ukraine is too big and capricious to even seriously discuss it, but they still blindly turn a blind eye and make some dishonest promises," Milanovic said at a ceremonial session marking the 773rd anniversary of the town of Krizevci in northern Croatia.
Milanovic acknowledged that EU membership has brought numerous benefits to Croatia, but emphasized that the country must take a strategic and realistic approach to its future within the bloc, according to a press release from the Presidential Office.
"We must review every decision from Brussels and other centers of power," Milanovic said. Enditem
