China firmly supports Mideast peace process and will go on
contributing to the realization of peace between Palestine and
Israel, said Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in Beijing Saturday.
Li made the remarks at a meeting with former Minister of State
of the Palestinian National Authority Abdel Kader I.F. Hamed and
former Minister of Justice of Israel Yossi Beilin, who were here
for a non-governmental seminar opened Friday.
Peace-promoting personages from Palestine and Israel have
reached a series of consensus at the Israeli-Palestinian Seminar on
Peace Process in the Middle East, providing constructive opinions
to bring the two sides back on the track of negotiation, said
Li.
They also voiced out the hope for peace of the two peoples to
the international community, which is of special importance under
the current situation, Li added.
Li said the ultimate resolution to the Palestine-Israel issue is
to build an independent Palestinian State. The peace can last long
only when it bases on the rapprochement between the two
countries.
Beilin and Hamed highly appreciated China's positive role in
advancing Mideast peace process. They expressed their hope that
China, as a permanent member of UN Security Council and an
impartial force, could play a bigger role in Mideast peace
process.
