The mega-episode Chinese drama, Memoirs in China, is
set to explore a global market at the upcoming MIPCOM International
TV Market, opening in Cannes on October 8.
Director Zhang Li will present an English-language trailer to
introduce his newly-finished historical work at the world gathering
of broadcasters, television producers, and distributors.
Set in the late Qing Dynasty, at the beginning of the 20th
century, Memoirs in China chronicles two big families as
they decline, explores a poignant inter-cultural love forbidden in
a feudal society, and examines the confusion caused by the
introduction of modern Western thought to Chinese people of the
time.
The 100-episode drama boasts a multinational production line-up,
including popular Chinese actor Zhang Guoli, Swedish actor Lennart
Rolf Svensson, acclaimed Chinese composer Zhao Jiping, and Japanese
cinematographer Tsuji Tomohiko.
