American R&B superstar Beyoncé Knowles will play in the Chinese fashion capital of Shanghai on November 5.

Tickets for the show, to be held at Shanghai Grand Stage, were put on sale Wednesday, nddaily.com reported.

It will be the singer's first stage appearance in the Chinese mainland.

The concert is set to headline the month-long 9th Shanghai International Arts Festival, beginning on October 18.

The modern metropolis of Shanghai in eastern China has been attracting a string of international stars. Previous performers include Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, the Rolling Stones and the late James Brown.

Following Beyoncé, up next on the agenda is American rock band Linkin Park.
