The world record holder was at lane six and his start was a bit slow. But Liu ran steadily in the latter part of the race, clocking 7.46 seconds to win the men's 60 metres hurdles. His personal best was 7.42 seconds but Liu Xiang was satisfied with his performance.
Liu Xiang said, "I raced well. It's good to win the title with 7.46 seconds and the title counts more than the result. And I think it's not easy to break the 60-meter hurdle record. I can if I have two more legs. "
