The procuratorate has sued 13,929 government officials above county level for receiving briberies, including 930 senior officials at bureau level in the five-year period, Jia said.

The procuratorate handled 35,255 bribery cases involving more than 100,000 yuan (US$13,986) or embezzlement of more than a million yuan.

Among the business cases, the procuratorate brought lawsuits to 19,963 government officials involved in business briberies. A total of more than 3.42 billion yuan was involved in the cases.

The procuratorate has caught 4,547 escaped suspects who are allegedly involved in commercial crimes. It recovered more than 24.48 billion yuan in illicit money.
