According to the regulator, most consumer complaints occurred in ten categories of goods and service. They are mobile phones and fittings, clothes and footwear, mobile telecoms services, catering services, Internet services, postal services, auto, computer and fittings, commercial property and online purchases.
Top of the list is mobile phone and fittings. With the 114 thousand cases, they account for 15 percent of the total. The major concern is on quality, including unstable function, faulty displays and excessive noise.
Li Xiaoqing, official State Administration of Industry & Commerce, said, " In addition to quality, complaints on mobile phone fittings also include false and exaggerated promotions that misled consumers. Another concern is with after-sales services. What often happens is that repairs take too long and charges are too high."
In addition, complaints on Internet services in 2007 rose at the fastest pace, up 39 percent from a year ago.
Li Xiaoqing said, " The complaints on internet services saw the fastest rise. The complaints concern slow internet speeds, delays with broadband connections, and too much junk mail."
Meanwhile, commercial property and online purchases are two issues that are difficult to tackle. Commercial properties involve large sums of money, many off plan projects and time lags in between the payment and usage of the property. It is usually difficult to solve if consumer rights are violated. Online purchase complaints are also difficult to solve as consumers and sellers are usually in different locations.
