Business guru and self-styled futurist John Naisbitt says China is building a brand new social order that is more effective than Western capitalism. The best-selling author of Megatrends said overseas pundits should stop applying Western standards to China and instead take a look at the country "from the inside."

Naisbitt sets out his ideas on China in a new book China Megatrends, co-authored with his wife, Doris Naisbitt. The book says China has provided an entirely new social and economic model for the 21st-century.
"In our book we try to describe the new China. While most Western commentators view China through Western eyes and compare it to Western politics, to Western government and so on, we start from China itself."
"What we are seeing is not the development of a society like some others, but of an entirely new economy, an entirely new political system that we've not seen before.
"The West is not seeing that. They keep seeing China in very stereotypic terms and don't see that it's a whole new social, economic system."
Naisbitt, who has been studying China for more than 30 years and has visited the country more than 100 times, said Western China experts and pundits approach China with preconceived notions that prevent them from grasping the emergence of a new social system.
"Our understanding of China is quite different from that of other people. Western people in particular try to understand China through the Western values and through Western eyes; We try to understand China through Chinese eyes, from the inside out."
