The Atomium Tower
Since the first international exposition, host venues have tried to outdo each other in building the most magnificent or memorable monument. For Expo '58, Brussels took up the challenge by creating "The Atomium" – a mammoth 30-story structure resembling an array of atoms. The structure features nine 50-foot-wide steel spheres with windows; they are connected by steel tubes. In the sunshine, the surfaces of the spheres glitter like silver; at night, the bulbs on the spheres alternately twinkle, brightening the night sky of Brussels. The monument signifies the peaceful use of atomic energy. The Tower of the Sun
The 70-meter tall "Tower of the Sun" is Osaka's most unique monument and was the defining symbol of Expo '70, Japan's first World's Fair. The structure looks like an avant-garde winged totem pole and features three "faces" – the suns of the past, present and future.Chinese products
