Once you have had enough of Old Beijing, take subway line 1 to Wangfujing, Beijing’s top shopping destination. The modern shopping complex is home to many international brands such as Zara, Nike and H&M. If you are not up for shopping, head west to the small alley in the main street. The hutong is packed with vendors selling traditional candied fruit (糖葫芦) and kebab (串). Originally from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the lamb kebab has become a local favorite. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try the scorpion, cricket or starfish kebab as well.
