On July 4, the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai and Taiwan universities jointly held the opening ceremony of the cultural exchange camp. About 68 college students and teaching staff from 9 Taiwan universities visited the Beijing Institute of Technology in Zhuhai and are scheduled to take part in a series of exchange activities which will contribute to the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations.

The history of the cultural exchange camp can be traced back to November 2015 when Zhuhai saw the success of the first camp that not only deepened exchanges between students on both sides but also gained recognition from all walks of life.

To further promote the bilateral communication, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council granted Zhuhai to hold a second exchange camp and extend the number of Taiwan universities from 5 to 9. In the course of the exchange camp, all college students and teaching staff members will live together and have a view into traditional Chinese culture, the national strategy to boost the development of Hengqin, the current economic condition in Zhuhai and the campus life of college students on the mainland.
