The Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress
(NPC), China's national legislature, will hold its 17th meeting in
Beijing from August 21 to 25.
There will be two draft laws for discussion at the meeting, which
are the National Current Language Law and the Extradition Law.
Draft amendments will also be made to the Patent Law, the Fisheries
Law and three other laws during the meeting.
Members of the NPC Standing Committee will discuss some draft
financial plans of the central government for this year.
They will also listen to reports from government officials on
various several issues, including the work being done to promote
science and education in the country, and the implementation of the
National Economic and Social Development Program and the Land
Management Law.
