Flu May Hit Beijing This Winter
Adjust font size:
Chinese medical experts warned local residents of a possible flu in Beijing in the Winter-Spring period, China Youth Daily reports Thursday.

The conclusion was made at the 2001 Beijing flu prevention and treatment seminar being held in Beijing.

At present, there is no effective medicine for flu. Prevention is of great importance. The best choice to prevent the disease is to have vaccine injection, said Guo Yuanji, director of the State Flu Commission.

China has witnessed three large scale of flu that occurred in 1957, 1968 and 1977. Apart from the three national flu waves, Beijing was hit by a minor flu in 1998, in which 10 percent of the Beijing dwellers were affected.
