China's first clinic for teenagers opened in Beijing Saturday to
cater to their special needs.
The clinic, attached to the Beijing No.2 Hospital, has departments
of gynecology, maternity, urology, pediatrics and psychological
consultation, among others.
In
addition, people under the age of 23 will be taught rudiments on
physiological growth, making friends of opposite sex, pregnancy and
safe sex.
China has 300 million people aged between 10 and 24. Their sexual
maturity age comes one year earlier than that of those born 10
years ago. Quite a number of primary school pupils have experienced
spermatorrhea and menstrual flow.
However, parents and relevant social sectors lack adequate
preparations for the change. Recent statistics revealed 80 percent
of the juvenile had obtained sexual knowledge from literary works,
advertisements and video tapes.
Many Chinese experts said it is of great importance to establish
the teenager clinic in various parts of China to help the juvenile
solve medical problems under the guidance of experts.
