China's ability to dispose of sewage has improved dramatically over the last few years, with the disposal rate reaching 42 percent.
Officials from the Ministry of Construction reveal that China has made great input to develop the country's sewage disposal facilities since the year 2000.
Governments at all levels are spending increasing amounts on the environmental infrastructure to address the problem of sewage treatment.
Cities have started building more sewage treatment plants, while some have even adopted sewage disposal fees.
Meanwhile, it is estimated that newly-built sewage treatment plants in the past three years are equal in construction scale to those built in the previous fifty years.
