Top legislator Wu Bangguo expressed his appreciation of the US Committee of 100's efforts to promote exchanges and friendship between the Chinese and American people in Beijing on Monday during his meeting with a delegation from the organization.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, also spoke highly of the committee's role in supporting modernization as well as development of relationships across the Taiwan Straits.

After discussing Sino-US relations and the Taiwan issue, Wu expressed a hope that the organization would continue to contribute positively to both.

The Committee of 100 was founded in 1990 by a group of successful Chinese Americans to serve as a bridge between the cultures and peoples of the US and China.
